SALISU HAIBA, BADAMASI (DIRECTOR PRESS & PUBLIC RELATIONS)

Salisu Haiba, Badamasi, is a graduate of Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in (English Language), a Diploma holder from International Institute of Journalism (IIJ) and a certified participant of course 37th of the National Institute of Public Information (NIPI), Kaduna.

After graduation in 1991 and National Youths Service in 1992 in Enugu State, Salisu Haiba Badamasi started work with the Katsina State Radio and Television as News Editor, before joining the Federal Civil Service in 1993 as Information OfficerII in the Federal Ministry of Information and rose to his current rank of Director Information.

In the course of service as Information Officer, Salisu Haiba Badamasi served at various departments and agencies within the service as follows; Federal Information Office, Ikoyi,Lagos State; Federal Information Center, Kano State; National Press Center, Radio House, Abuja; Press Officer Reporter (House of Representatives Chamber) National Assembly; and Resident Information Officer in the Presidency (Office of Presidential Adviseron National Assembly Matters).

Others are; Head of Press and Public Relations Unit in the Presidency (National Planning Commission), and later Resident Information Officer, Ministry of Budget and National Planning; Deputy Director Information (Housing Sector), Federal Ministry of Works and Housing, and now Director Information, Federal Ministry of Housing and Urban Development.

Salisu Haiba Badamasi is an indigene of Malumfashi Local Government of Katsina State. He is married with children.

MANDATE / RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE UNIT

Basically, the mandate of the Press and Public Relations Unit of the Federal Ministry of Housing and Urban Development is to ensure media projection/visibility for the activities, programmes and policies of the Ministry to both its internal and external stakeholders.

Through, the instrumentation of the media, the Unit is also responsible to create a better understanding for the Ministry and its activities in the eyes of its public stakeholders by developing and implementing a deliberate communication and public relations strategy which would ensure the promotion of a good corporate image for the ministry.

The Unit is also responsible to collate feedback and public perception of the activities of the ministry as inputs for corrective measures, policy formulation and future projections in discharging its statutory mandate.
